Panthers stumble at Orange

Pittsburgh fell by a score of 69-61 Saturday at Syracuse to drop to 13-7 overall and 4-5 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Panthers trailed 32-21 at halftime on their way to the defeat. Justin Champagnie paced Pitt with 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting plus 4-of-6 at the free throw line. Terrell Brown added 11 points and seven boards.

Blue Devils blast Hurricanes

Duke cruised to an 89-59 home win last Tuesday night versus Miami to move to 16-3 overall and 6-3 in conference action. The Blue Devils led 48-24 at halftime on their way to the victory. Matthew Hurt paced Duke with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting including 4-of-7 from 3-point range plus 2-of-3 at the free throw line. He also registered six rebounds and three blocked shots. Tre Jones tallied 16 points, six boards and six assists. Vernon Carey Jr. added 11 points, six caroms and three assists.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Panthers are 4-0 ATS in their last four Tuesday games. Pitt is 5-12 ATS in its last 17 road games.

The Blue Devils are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Tuesday games. The home team is 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings.

The Blue Devils should win relatively easily, but the spread is wide enough to give me concern. The Panthers play at a snail's pace and could frustrate Duke into more poor possessions than usual with a defense that has played fairly well lately. Duke has been up-and-down and I could see it easing up a bit tonight after a week off and on the heels of a blowout win.
