Spartans ease past Hawkeyes
Michigan State posted an 82-67 victory Thursday night at 19th-ranked Iowa to extend its winning streak to 13 games. The Spartans (18-2, 9-0 Big Ten) outscored the hosts 51-32 in the second half after trailing by four at halftime. Cassius Winston paced MSU with 23 points on 6-of-14 shooting including 3-of-5 from 3-point range plus 8-of-8 at the free throw line. He also dished out seven assists. Nick Ward added 21 points and 10 rebounds. The Spartans shot 27-of-51 from the floor, 8-of-19 on 3-point attempts and 20-of-21 from the charity stripe.
Boilermakers win fourth straight
Purdue earned a 79-67 win Wednesday night at Ohio State to improve to 13-6 overall and 6-2 in the Big Ten Conference. The Boilermakers led 39-29 at halftime and continued to control the action after the break. Purdue shot 23-of-48 from the floor, 12-of-24 on 3-point attempts and 21-of-25 at the free throw line. Carsen Edwards paced the Boilermakers with 27 points on 6-of-16 shooting including 4-of-9 from 3-point range plus 11-of-13 at the free throw line. He also tallied five steals, four rebounds and four assists. Ryan Cline contributed 13 points and two assists. Trevion Williams added 10 points and three boards.
College Basketball Betting Trends
The Spartans are 9-0 ATS in their last nine games versus the Big Ten. Michigan State is 6-0 ATS in its last six road games.
The Boilermakers are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games. Purdue is 4-0 ATS in its last four Big Ten games.
Michigan State keeps covering spreads in Big Ten games, but here is a revenge situation in a tough environment at a Purdue squad playing some of its best basketball of the season. While Purdue isn't as good defensively, it can hang right in there on the offensive end and the home court advantage should be huge. I think this one goes down to the wire and the Boilermakers take care of business on their home court.
