Aztecs ease past Cowboys
San Diego State cruised to a 72-55 home win Tuesday night over Wyoming to match its best start in school history at 20-0 to go with 9-0 in the Mountain West Conference. The Aztecs led 32-19 at halftime en route to the victory. Malachi Flynn paced SDSU with 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting including 2-of-4 from 3-point range plus 4-of-4 at the free throw line. He also notched five rebounds, five assists and four steals. Matt Mitchell tallied 15 points and three boards. Yanni Wetzell had 14 points, four caroms and two assists. Jordan Schakel added 11 points in 27 minutes of action.
Rebels fall at Wolf Pack
UNLV suffered an 86-72 defeat Wednesday night at Nevada to drop to 11-10 overall and 6-2 in conference action. The Rebels were outscored 53-45 in the second half of the loss. Bryce Hamilton paced UNLV with 26 points off the bench on 10-of-23 shooting including 2-of-6 from 3-point distance plus 4-of-8 at the charity stripe. He also pulled down seven rebounds. Amauri Hardy added 23 points, three assists and two boards.
College Basketball Betting Trends
San Diego State
The Aztecs are 7-0 ATS in their last seven games as a road favorite. The favorite is 6-0-2 ATS in the last eight meetings.
UNLV
The Rebels are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games. UNLV is 3-8 ATS in its last 11 games as an underdog.
Prediction:
The Aztecs have not played the toughest schedule in the nation, but they have also beaten almost everyone convincingly and does have a solid early-season 76-71 road win at BYU on its resume along with an impressive 83-73 neutral court victory over Iowa in late November. San Diego State has barely skipped a beat in its road games and I wouldn't have been surprised if this spread wasnt a point or a point-and-a-half wider. I plan on taking advantage as now doesn't seem to be the time to fade the Aztecs.
