Cyclones fall on road at Jayhawks
Iowa State was edged 80-76 Monday night at ninth-ranked Kansas to drop to 14-5 overall and 4-3 in the Big 12 Conference. The Cyclones led 42-37 at halftime before faltering in the second half. Iowa State shot 27-of-62 from the field, 12-of-30 from 3-point range and 10-of-17 at the free throw line. Marial Shayok led the way for ISU with 26 points on 9-of-18 shooting including 3-of-8 from 3-point range plus 5-of-5 at the free throw line. He added six rebounds and two steals. Talen Horton-Tucker tallied 16 points, three rebounds and two assists. Michael Jacobson notched 12 points, 11 boards and three steals. Nick Weiler-Babb added 10 points plus four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Rebels crushed by Crimson Tide
Ole Miss suffered a 74-53 loss Tuesday night at Alabama to drop to 14-4 overall and 4-2 in the SEC. The Rebels trailed 42-26 at halftime and could not recover. Terence Davis was the lone Mississippi scorer in double figures as he had 10 points on 3-of-7 from the field, 2-of-5 from 3-point range and 2-of-4 at the free throw line. He also pulled down three rebounds. The Rebels shot 20-of-50 from the floor, 6-of-20 from 3-point range and 7-of-14 at the charity stripe.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Iowa State
The Cyclones are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. Iowa State is 1-5 ATS in its last six games versus the SEC.
Mississippi
The Rebels are 6-0 ATS in their last six Saturday games. Ole Miss is 7-1 ATS in its last eight home games.
Prediction:
Iowa State has lost three of its last five games, but those defeats were by a total of eight points. The Cyclones are 15th nationally in adjusted offensive efficiency and 25th defensively, better than the Rebels on both ends of the floor. Iowa State has also played a tougher schedule. While Ole Miss being at home helps, I like what I see as the better team getting the job done this afternoon.
