Creighton vs. Georgetown Pick
Can No. 16 Creighton avoid a letdown when it hits the road to face Georgetown tonight at 7PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Creighton is a slight favorite on the road, as the Bluejays are getting odds of -2 points against Georgetown. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 156.5 points. Georgetown has won five of the last six in this series, but Creighton has covered the spread in three straight meetings.
Creighton is coming off a 102-94 loss at home to Marquette this weekend to drop to 18-2 overall and 5-2 in the Big East. The Bluejays had covered in four straight prior to that as well and are 13-5 against the spread on the season. Creighton averages 86.4 points per game on offense while allowing 72.9 per game on defense. The Jays actually allow fewer points on the road, giving up just 70 per game. Marcus Foster is the leader with 18.7 points per game, but Creighton has a few injury issues. Maurice Watson Jr., who put up 12.9 points and 8.5 assists per game, is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury while Toby Hegner, who averages 6.1 points and 3.8 rebounds, is questionable with an ankle injury.
Georgetown has lost two straight coming into this game to fall to 10-10 overall and 1-6 in the Big East. The Hoyas are just 1-7 against the spread in their last eight games and are now 5-13 ATS for the season. Georgetown is putting up 76.2 points per game on offense this season and allowing 72.1 on defense. Their defensive average drops to 68.7 in road games. Rodney Pryor is averaging 18 points and 4.9 rebounds per game to lead the team while LJ Peak is adding 15.9 points and 3.2 assists per contest.
Road teams struggled on Tuesday night, but I think Creighton will be okay with such a small spread against a struggling Georgetown team. The Bluejays should be motivated coming off a loss and they are an impressive 7-1 against the spread on the road this season. Georgetown has been a mess in the Big East and are only 2-8 ATS at home.
