Huskies fall at Wildcats

UConn lost by a score of 61-55 Saturday at Villanova to drop to 10-7 overall and 0-3 on the road. The Wildcats trailed 27-21 at halftime and were unable to recover. Christian Vital paced UConn with 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting including 1-of-5 from 3-point distance. He also recorded eight rebounds and three assists. Josh Carlton registered 12 points, six boards and two blocked shots. Alterique Gilbert added 12 points, five assists and two caroms.

Cougars take down Shockers

Houston earned a 65-54 victory Saturday at Wichita State to improve to 14-4 overall and 4-1 in the American Athletic Conference. The Cougars led 35-25 at halftime en route to the triumph. Fabian White Jr. paced Houston 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting plus 2-of-2 at the charity stripe. He also notched five rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots. DeJon Jarreau accounted for 12 points, 10 boards, six dimes and three steals. Marcus Sasser registered 10 points and three caroms. Quentin Grimes added 10 points and four rebounds.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Huskies are 7-2 ATS in their last nine Thursday games. Connecticut is 1-3-2 ATS in its last six games overall.

The Cougars are 8-1 ATS in their last nine games overall. The home team is 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings.

UConn has dropped four of its last five games but has shown life lately with a double overtime heartbreaker loss at home to Wichita State before keeping it relatively competitive in a tough environment at Villanova. I like the fight the Huskies have shown lately and I think that will be on display again as this one stays more competitive than projected.
