Is No. 22 Tennessee being asked to cover too many points when the Volunteers host Vanderbilt tonight at 7PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Tennessee is favored at home, as the Volunteers are getting odds of -11 points against Vanderbilt. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 142.5 points. Tonight’s game takes place from Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee and will air live on ESPNU.

Vanderbilt snapped a four-game losing streak with a 77-71 win at home over LSU this weekend. The Commodores are 7-12 overall, 2-5 in the SEC and just 2-14 against the spread. Vandy is averaging 71.3 points per game this season while allowing 71.7 per game. Jeff Roberson is leading Vanderbilt with 15.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while Matthew Fisher-Davis is adding 11.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Fisher-Davis is questionable for today’s game with a shoulder injury.

Tennessee has won four of its last five games, including a 70-63 win at South Carolina this past weekend. The Vols are 13-5 on the season, 4-3 in the SEC and 10-6 against the spread. Tennessee is putting up 77.7 points per game this season while allowing 69.2 per game. Grant Williams has been leading Tennessee this season with 16.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while Admiral Schofield is adding 13.2 points and 5.8 boards per game.

Bet on Vanderbilt vs. Tennessee

The road team has won and covered in the last four meetings between these two teams. Vandy has struggled mightily at the betting window this year and I don’t see things getting better today, especially with Fisher-Davis battling a shoulder injury. Vandy is scoring just 64 points per game on the road this year and that average could very well go down against a good Tennessee defense. Vandy has just one cover on the road, but even that came in a 7-point loss. The public betting is strongly with the Vols to cover at home as well.
