North Carolina Player Spotlight
Cole Anthony (knee) will not play in Wednesday's game against Virginia Tech. Anthony has yet to play since Dec. 8 after undergoing a surgery on his knee. There is still not timetable for his return to the court. North Carolina is not close to a tournament team without the star freshman, who is averaging 19.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.4 three-pointers, and 1.9 steals per game this season.
Virginia Tech Player Spotlight
Landers Nolley had 13 points (5-16 FG, 3-13 3Pt), a career-high seven assists, six rebounds and a block Saturday against Syracuse. Nolley has now scored in double-digits in six straight, though this was his lowest total in that span. He hasn't been overly efficient of late, especially from 3-point range, but Nolley consistently has the ball in his hands and is the go-to option for offense for the Hokies.
NCAA College Basketball Betting Trends
North Carolina
The Tar Heels are 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games versus a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600.
Virginia Tech
The Hokies are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 home games versus an opponent with a losing road record.
Prediction
North Carolina has been terrible against the spread this season and there’s no reason to back the Tar Heels tonight. They’re 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 games overall, have covered just once in their last six road games and are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games when playing an opponent with a winning record. The Hokies, meanwhile, are 20-6-1 against the spread in their last 27 games versus an opponent with a losing record and are 8-3-1 against the spread in their last 12 games coming off an ATS loss.
