Terrapins win seventh straight

Maryland dominated host Ohio State Friday night by a count of 75-61 to improve to 16-3 overall and 7-1 in Big Ten play. The Terrapins led 45-38 at halftime and continued to pull away after the break. Maryland shot 25-of-43 from the field, 11-of-17 from 3-point range and 14-of-16 at the free throw line. Anthony Cowan Jr. paced the Terrapins with 20 points on 5-of-13 shooting including 3-of-7 from 3-point distance plus 7-of-8 at the free throw line. He also tallied six assists, four rebounds and three steals. Bruno Fernando contributed 13 points, 15 boards and four assists. Darryl Morsel accounted for 11 points, two rebounds and two steals. Jalen Smith added 10 points and six caroms.

Spartans post 11th consecutive win

Michigan State secured a 70-64 victory Thursday night at Nebraska to move to 16-2 overall and 7-0 in the Big Ten. The Spartans led 33-28 at halftime and held on after the break. Cassius Winston led MSU with a career-best 29 points on 9-of-15 shooting including 3-of-7 from 3-point distance plus 8-of-9 at the charity stripe. He also notched six assists and three rebounds. Nick Ward added 15 points and 10 boards. Michigan State shot 24-of-55 from the field, 6-of-20 from 3-point range and 16-of-18 at the free throw line.
