Friars snap three-game skid

Providence secured a 72-63 home win Tuesday night over Seton Hall to move to 11-6 on the season and 1-3 in the Big East. Providence outscored the Pirates 42-30 in the second half to rally from a halftime deficit. The Friars shot 24-of-58 from the field, 7-of-20 from 3-point range and 17-of-26 from the free throw line. David Duke paced Providence with 18 points on 4-of-7 shooting including 3-of-3 from 3-point range plus 7-of-8 at the free throw line. He also registered three rebounds and two assists. Alpha Diallo 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Golden Eagles win without Howard

Marquette star guard Markus Howard exited three minutes in at Georgetown Tuesday night, but the Golden Eagles rallied together to win 74-71 in his absence. Howard is questionable for Sunday's game as of this writing, which is why lines have not been released. Marquette (15-3, 4-1 Big East) outscored the Hoyas 37-31 in the second half to post the win. Marquette shot 27-of-57 from the floor, 7-of-20 from 3-point distance and 13-of-18 from 3-point distance. Sam Hauser led the Golden Eagles with 31 points on 10-of-20 shooting including 4-of-9 from 3-point range plus 7-of-7 at the free throw line. He also pulled down eight rebounds. Theo John registered 14 points and six boards. Sacar Anim tallied 10 points plus two rebounds and two assists. Joey Hauser added 10 points, eight caroms and six dimes.

College Basketball Betting Trends

Providence

The Friars are 7-2 ATS in their last nine road games. The over is 4-0 in the last four Providence road games.

Marquette

The Golden Eagles are 5-0 ATS in their last five Sunday games. Marquette is 5-1 ATS in its last six home games.

Prediction:

The status of Howard looms large over this game, but I could see Providence keeping it close regardless. If you look at the Friars' schedule lately, they have fared well against some good competition with a home loss against Creighton the only game they weren't very competitive. Providence is a better bet if Howard doesn't go, but I'm on the visitors even if he is active.
