Clemson vs. Notre Dame Pick
Can No. 20 Clemson fend off a pesky Notre Dame team when the Irish host the Tigers today at 4PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Clemson is favored at home today, as the Tigers are getting odds of -7 points against the Irish. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 134 points. Tonight’s game will take place from Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, South Carolina and will air live on ESPN.
Notre Dame has lost three straight coming into today’s game, but the last two losses were by a combined five points to Louisville and North Carolina. The Irish are 13-6 overall, 3-3 in the ACC and 7-8 against the spread. ND is averaging 77.4 points per game on offense this season while allowing 65.6 per contest on defense. The Irish are without Bonzie Colson until late February due to a foot injury. He averaged 21.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Matt Farrell is the current team leader with 16.3 points and 5.3 assists per contest.
Clemson is coming off an 87-79 loss at North Carolina this week for its second loss in three games. The Tigers are 15-3 overall, 4-2 in the ACC and 9-6 against the spread. Clemson is putting up 77.6 points per game this season while allowing 65.6 per contest on defense. Marcquise Reed is leading Clemson with 16.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while Donte Grantham is adding 14.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest.
Notre Dame has won five straight meetings with Clemson, covering the spread in the last three encounters. Clemson has been shaky as of late, failing to cover in four of its last five while the Irish are playing tough despite being short-handed. They picked up a road win at Syracuse and lost to UNC just one point in recent weeks. Clemson has just been too shaky lately for me to trust them to win by 7. I think this could be another battle. The public betting is taking ND with the points today as well.
