Virginia vs. Georgia Tech Pick

College Basketball Predictions: Can Virginia cover at Georgia Tech? 1/18/18

Will No. 2 Virginia continue its run through the ACC tonight when the Cavaliers take on Georgia Tech tonight at 8PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at, Virginia is favored on the road, as the Cavaliers are getting odds of -7.5 points against Georgia Tech. The over/under total for the contest list listed at 117 points. Tonight’s game takes place from McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta, Georgia and will air live on the ACC Network.

Virginia has won eight straight coming into tonight’s game to move to 16-1 overall. The Cavs are also 5-0 in the ACC and 10-4 against the spread. UVA is averaging 70.5 points per game on offense while allowing 52.9 per contest. Kyle Guy is leading Virginia with 15.5 points per game while Devon Hall is adding 12.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest.

Georgia Tech has won four straight entering tonight’s game. The Jackets are now 10-7 on the season and 3-1 in the ACC. They are 8-5 against the spread. Tech has managed to cover the spread in five straight games. The Yellow Jackets score just 66.6 points per game this year while allowing 62.8 per contest on defense. Josh Okogie is leading Tech with 18.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while Tadric Jackson is adding 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest.

Bet on Virginia vs. Georgia Tech

Virginia has won five of the last six meetings with Georgia Tech, covering the spread in four of those six encounters. I like the way Virginia is playing, my concern is that this game should be a defensive battle on both sides. The Cavs and Jackets both rely on defense to win, so covering a 7.5-point spread may not be the easiest thing. UVA also has just three road games this year, so the already weak offense could struggle to score. The public betting is backing Virginia, but I will take the home team with the points.
