Flyers ease past Rams
Dayton rolled to a 79-65 home win Tuesday night over Virginia Commonwealth to improve to 15-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play. The Flyers outscored the Rams 41-32 in the second half to pull away. Obi Toppin paced Dayton with 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting including 1-of-3 from 3-point distance plus 5-of-6 at the free throw line. He also contributed nine rebounds and three assists. Jalen Crutcher tallied 20 points, five dimes and four boards. Trey Landers tallied 16 points, nine caroms and two assists. Ibi Watson added 13 points, three rebounds and two assists off the bench.
Billikens win third straight
Saint Louis earned a 74-58 victory Saturday night at Richmond to move to 14-3 overall and 3-1 in the Atlantic 10. The Billikens outscored the Spiders 43-27 in the second half of the win. Jordan Goodwin paced Saint Louis with 26 points on 19-of-19 shooting including 1-of-2 from 3-point range plus 5-of-8 at the charity stripe. He also registered nine rebounds and two steals. Javonte Perkins had 14 points and three boards off the bench. Demarius Jacobs tallied 11 points and three caroms. Jimmy Bell Jr. added 10 points and four rebounds.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Dayton
The Flyers are 0-6 ATS in their last six Friday games. Dayton is 5-2 ATS in its last seven games as a road favorite.
Saint Louis
The Billikens are 1-4 ATS in its last five games overall. The underdog is 25-9 ATS in its last 34 meetings.
Prediction:
Since an overtime loss in a neutral setting to Colorado four weeks ago, the Flyers have reeled off six consecutive wins by at least 13 points. The first five wins came against weaker foes, but the triumph Tuesday night came against a pretty decent VCU squad. Dayton has an elite offense that is ranked second in the nation and I'm not sure the Billikens have what it takes to match them basket for basket even on their home floor. I think the very strong play of the Flyers continues another night as they cover this spread.
