Brown, Wildcats sink Iowa State
Kansas State blew a second-half lead Saturday afternoon at the Cyclones, but a Barry Brown Jr. layup with four seconds remaining sent the Wildcats to an exciting 58-57 victory. Kansas State led 35-25 at halftime before ISU rallied back, but the visitors ultimately had the last laugh. The Wildcats shot 20-of-56 from the floor, 7-of-22 on 3-point tries and 11-of-14 on free throws. Brown Jr. led the way with 23 points on 9-of-20 shooting including 2-of-6 from 3-point range plus 3-of-4 at the free throw line. He also notched four assists and three rebounds. Kamau Stokes added 12 points plus four assists and two rebounds.
Sooners stun Horned Frogs
Oklahoma picked up a 76-74 home win over Texas Christian Saturday as Kristian Doolittle hit a runner with under three seconds remaining. The Sooners (13-3, 2-2) outscored the Horned Frogs 39-31 in the second half to rally back. Oklahoma shot 27-of-55 from the field, 5-of-15 from 3-point distance and 17-of-25 from the free throw line. Doolittle paced the Sooners with 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting plus 6-of-9 at the charity stripe. He also contributed 10 rebounds and two steals. Christian James accounted for 15 points, eight rebounds, four dimes and four steals. Brady Maney Manek had 12 points, five rebounds and four blocked shots. Aaron Calixte added 12 points and four assists.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Kansas State
The Wildcats are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The road team is 0-4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.
Oklahoma
The Sooners are 7-18-1 ATS in the last 26 meetings. The underdog is 6-1-1 ATS in the last eight meetings.
Prediction
Kansas State is excellent defensively, but are offensively challenged. Now it goes on the road to a team that is seventh nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency (one spot behind the Wildcats), but the Sooners are much better offensively even if not great by any means. I just don’t see KSU sticking with Oklahoma on the road, especially after two grueling victories.
