Cyclones fall on late layup

Iowa State lost its second straight game as a layup with four seconds remaining sent it to a 58-57 home loss Saturday afternoon versus Kansas State. The Cyclones (12-4, 2-2) outscored the Wildcats 31-23 in the second half, but were ultimately unable to hang on. Iowa State shot 21-of-50 from the floor including 9-of-24 on 3-point attempts plus 6-of-12 at the free throw line. Nick Weiler-Babb was the lone ISU player in double figures for scoring as he finished with 11 points on 3-of-8 shooting including 3-of-7 on 3-point tries plus 2-of-4 at the free throw line. He also notched five assists and four rebounds. 

Red Raiders win sixth straight

Texas Tech improved to 15-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play Saturday as it defeated host Texas by a count of 68-62, its first win in Austin since 1996. The Red Raiders outscored the Longhorns 42-32 in the second half to grab the victory. Texas Tech shot 24-of-54 from the floor, 7-of-19 on 3-pointers and 13-of-17 at the free throw line. Matt Mooney led the Red Raiders with 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting including 3-of-3 on 3-point attempts plus 3-of-4 at the free throw line. He also tallied five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Jarrett Culver contributed 14 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two blocked shots. Davide Moretti had 13 points, three steals and two boards. Tariq Owens added 12 points, four blocks and three rebounds.
