Blue Demons drop third in a row

DePaul lost 74-67 Saturday at St. John's to fall to 12-4 overall and 0-3 in conference action. The Blue Demons trailed 39-34 at halftime and were unable to bounce back. Jaylen Butz led DePaul with 17 points on 6-of-6 shooting plus 5-of-9 at the free throw line. He also registered nine rebounds and two assists. Jalen Coleman-Lands contributed 15 points in 32 minutes of action. Charlie Moore tallied 14 points, 12 dimes and eight boards. Darious Hall added 11 points and five caroms off the bench.

Wildcats roll past Hoyas

Villanova picked up an 80-66 home win Saturday over Georgetown to improve to 12-3 overall and 3-1 in the Big East. The Wildcats outscored the Hoyas 41-30 in the second half to pull away. Saddiq Bey paced Villanova with 33 points on 10-of-15 shooting including 8-of-10 from 3-point range plus 5-of-7 at the free throw line. He also tallied three assists. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl contributed 14 points, seven rebounds, two dimes and two steals. Collin Gillespie added 11 points, five assists and four caroms.

College Basketball Betting Trends

DePaul

The Blue Demons are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games. DePaul is 1-4 ATS in its last five Tuesday games.

Villanova

The Wildcats are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The home team is 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings.

Prediction:

The Blue Demons beat up on some bad teams in their non-conference schedule, but also had a few solid wins sprinkled in over Iowa as well as Minnesota and Texas Tech. The two wins over Big Ten opponents were also on the road, so there is proof they can handle strong competition away from home. I see DePaul playing with some desperation tonight as it desperately needs a conference win. The road team has done well in this series as of late and I am siding that way again.
