Spartans roll past Golden Gophers
Michigan State earned a 74-58 home win Thursday night over Minnesota to improve to 13-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play. The Spartans outscored the Golden Gophers 38-26 in the second half to pull away. Cassius Winston paced MSU with 27 points on 8-of-19 shooting including 3-of-7 from 3-point range plus 8-of-8 at the free throw line. He also tallied six assists, four rebounds and two steals. Xavier Tillman added 19 points, 16 boards, five blocked shots, four dimes and three steals.
Boilermakers fall in double OT
Purdue lost 84-78 Thursday night in double overtime at Michigan to drop to 9-7 overall and 2-3 in conference action. The Boilermakers trailed 32-28 at halftime before tying it up at 62-62 through regulation and it remained tied at 68-68 through the first extra session before they faltered in the second OT. Trevion Williams poured in a career-best 36 points on 16-of-28 shooting including 1-of-1 at the free throw line plus 3-of-6 at the charity stripe. He also racked up 20 rebounds and two assists. Isaiah Thompson tallied 14 points and two boards. Eric Hunter Jr. added 10 points and two caroms.
College Basketball Betting Trends
The Spartans are 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall. Michigan State is 7-1 ATS in its last eight Sunday games.
The Boilermakers are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games overall. Purdue is 3-11 ATS in its last 14 Sunday games.
The Boilermakers are probably a bit fatigued and certainly salty from letting one slip away on the road a few days ago at U-M. Look for another fantastic effort from Purdue here against an MSU team that traditionally struggles in West Lafayette. The home team is 3-0-1 ATS in the last four meetings and I'm banking on the Boilermakers to keep that trend rolling.
