DePaul ends losing streak

The Blue Demons are coming off a 75-74 win at home over Seton Hall to put an end to a three-game losing streak. DePaul has covered the spread in two straight. DePaul is 9-5 on the season, 1-2 in conference play, 0-3 on the road, 7-6-1 against the spread and 8-5-1 with the over.

DePaul is putting up 76.7 points per game on offense this season while shooting 47.6 percent from the field. Defensively, the Blue Demons are giving up 70.1 points per game while holding opponents to just 41.9 percent shooting. Max Strus has been leading the team this season with 18.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while Eli Cain adds 13.7 points and 4.2 assists per contest.

St. John’s looking to bounce back

The Red Storm are coming off a 76-71 loss at Villanova on Tuesday for their second loss in four games. Still, St. John’s is 5-0-1 against the spread in its last six. On the season, St. John’s is 14-2 overall, 2-2 in the Big East, 8-0 at home, 7-8-1 against the spread and 9-5-1 with the over.

St. John’s has a strong offense that is averaging 83.9 points per game while shooting an impressive 40 percent from the arc. Defensively, the Red Storm are giving up 72.1 points per game. LJ Figueroa is questionable for today’s game with an undisclosed injury. He is averaging 14.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game this season. Shamorie Ponds is leading the team with 20.6 points and 6.0 assists per contest.

College Basketball Betting Trends

DePaul

DePaul is 4-1 against the spread in its last five Big East games, but 8-22-3 ATS in their last 33 games following a win.

St. John’s

St. John’s has covered the spread in four of its last five home games and it is 3-0-1 ATS in its last four conference games.

Prediction:

DePaul gave Villanova a slight scare on the road last week, but I think this is a bad matchup for the Blue Demons. St. John’s shoots the ball very well and the Red Storm are picking up confidence with each game, managing to cover despite tough losses on the road. DePaul has struggled defensively on the road, and that isn’t likely to turn out well against this St. John’s team.

College Basketball Prediction: St. John’s -10
