One of the most high-profile college basketball matchups of the season thus far is on tap this afternoon as the third-ranked Kansas Jayhawks host the fourth-ranked Baylor Bears. Can Kansas win by enough to cover this spread?

Bears win 11th straight

Baylor earned a 57-52 victory Tuesday night at Texas Tech to improve to 12-1 overall and 2-0 in the Big 12 Conference. Davion Mitchell led the Bears with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting including 2-of-2 from 3-point distance. He also grabbed four rebounds. Freddie Gillespie added nine points, 10 boards and two blocked shots. Baylor led 21-18 at halftime and held off the Red Raiders after the break.

Jayhawks blast Cyclones

Kansas rolled to a 79-53 triumph Wednesday night at Iowa State to move to 12-2 overall and 2-0 in conference action. The Jayhawks raced out to a 46-26 halftime advantage en route to the win. Devon Dotson led Kansas with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting including 2-of-5 from 3-point range plus 4-of-6 at the charity stripe. He also registered six assists, five rebounds and three steals. David McCormack had 16 points and seven boards. Ochai Agbaji contributed 16 points, two caroms, two assists and two steals. Udoka Azuibuike added 10 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

College Basketball Trends

The Bears are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games. Baylor is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games overall.

The Jayhawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games. The home team is 8-21-1 ATS in the last 30 meetings.

This meeting has a tendency through the years to be closer than projected and of course the Bears are battle-tested coming in, but this spread seems like a trap. It's an early start and the Jayhawk faithful are going to be as loud as ever against a top five opponent. Additionally, Kansas is playing at a super high level right now. The line might be drawing a lot of Baylor backers, but to me it looks like the spot to lay on is with the favorites.
