Butler vs. Creighton Pick

CBB Picks: Will Butler cover as a 4.5-point road underdog vs. Creighton?

Who has the edge in tonight’s huge Big East contest when No. 8 Creighton hosts No. 12 Butler at 9PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Creighton is favored at home, as the Bluejays are getting odds of -4.5 points against Butler. The over/under total for the game is listed at 152.5 points. Butler has won three of its last four meetings with Creighton, but the Bluejays have covered in three of the last four.

Bet on Butler vs. Creighton

Butler is on a three-game winning streak, including a win over Villanova, to get to 14-2 on the season and 3-1 in the Big East. The Bulldogs have also covered the spread in three straight to move to 10-4 against the spread for the season. Butler is a strong defensive team that is giving up 64.9 points per game while the offense is putting up 77.7 points per contest. Kelan Martin is leading the team with 17.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while Andrew Chrabascz is averaging 11.9 points and 5 rebounds per contest.

Creighton has won back-to-back games since suffering a loss to Villanova. The Bluejays are now 15-1 on the year and 3-1 in the Big East. Creighton is 11-4 against the spread this season and has covered in four of its last five. Creighton is more reliant on offense than Butler, as the Jays average 87.5 points per game while giving up 72 points per contest. Their offensive numbers actually take a dip to 84.8 points per game when at home. Marcus Foster is averaging 18.6 points per game to lead the team while Maurice Watson Jr. is contributing 13.2 points and 9.1 assists per game.

This game should be another classic. Both teams bring a strong team to the floor. I think the difference will be Butler’s defensive approach. The Bulldogs will make it harder than usual on the Creighton offense. Butler was able to pose problems for Villanova and the Bulldogs still showed an ability to score in crunch time against Georgetown. I like the Bulldogs to cover on the road tonight.
