Boilermakers struggle at Illini

Purdue lost 63-37 Sunday night at Illinois to drop to 9-6 overall and 2-2 in the Big Ten Conference. The Boilermakers trailed 32-19 at halftime en route to the defeat. Sasha Stevanovic led the modest Purdue scoring effort with eight points on 3-of-9 shooting including 2-of-5 from 3-point range. He also grabbed three rebounds. Eric Hunter Jr. added seven points and four boards. 

Wolverines fall to Spartans

Michigan lost by an 87-69 score Sunday afternoon at Michigan State to fall to 10-4 overall and 1-2 in conference action. Jon Teske paced the Wolverines with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting including 1-of-3 from 3-point distance plus 2-of-4 at the free throw line. He also accounted for five rebounds and two blocked shots. Zavier Simpson contributed 14 points, eight assists and five boards. Brandon Johns Jr. tallied 12 points and two caroms. Franz Wagner added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Prediction:

The Boilermakers have had an inconsistent season, looking very good at times and downright awful at others such as Sunday. Purdue is stout defensively, so it's always whether the offense shows up to keep it in the fight. With Michigan struggling to beat good teams lately, I think this is a game that will go down to the wire as the Boilermakers lean on their defense and get enough offensive production to stay very competitive.
