Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, Nevada is favored heavily at home, as the Wolf Pack are getting odds of -27 points against San Jose State. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 143 points. The public betting currently has 63 percent going on Nevada at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our College Basketball Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Spartans can’t get on track
San Jose State is coming off a 73-53 loss at home to Fresno State for their fourth straight loss and second straight failed cover. San Jose State is 3-10 on the season, 0-1 in the MWC, 0-3 on the road, 6-6 against the spread and 7-5 with the under.
There isn’t much to like about the Spartans this season. They are giving up 75.5 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 46.3 percent. Offensively, San Jose State puts up just 68.3 points per game while shooting only 41.4 percent from the floor. Michael Steadman is leading the team with 13.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game while Brae Ivey is adding 12.1 points and 4.2 assists per contest.
Nevada stunned at New Mexico
The Wolf Pack had their perfect season ended on Saturday in an 85-58 loss at New Mexico where they were a 15-point favorite coming in. They have failed to cover in four of their last six games. Nevada is now 14-1 on the season, 1-1 in the Mountain West, 7-0 at home, 8-5-1 against the spread and 11-3 with the under.
Nevada is putting up 80.4 points per game on offense this season while giving up just 67.4 per contest. They also hold opponents to only 39.9 percent shooting on the year. Jordan Caroline is putting up 18.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game while Caleb Martin is adding 18.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest.
College Basketball Betting Trends
San Jose State
San Jose State is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games, but just 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a loss.
Nevada
Nevada is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five Mountain West games and 0-5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record.
Prediction:
There isn’t a lot to like about San Jose State, but 27 points is quite the spread. They only lost by five at Stanford and eight at Cal. However, they did suffer a 30-point loss at St. Mary’s. Nevada has failed to cover in four straight as a double-digit favorite, with two of those games coming at home. The Wolf Pack certainly have the talent and are one of the dark horses in the national title picture, but I think the spread is just too high tonight. A lot can go wrong to keep a team from winning by 27 points. Regardless of them coming off a loss, it takes a perfect recipe to pick up a win of that size.
