Vols rolling along
Tennessee is on a roll right now, having won eight straight games following a 96-50 win over Georgia at home last weekend. The Vols have covered the spread in two straight. Tennessee is 12-1 on the season, 1-0 on the road, 6-5-1 against the spread and 6-6 with the over/under total.
The Volunteers have one of the nation’s best offenses, putting up 86.3 points per game while shooting 51.3 percent from the field. Defensively, Tennessee is giving up just 65.2 points per game while holding opponents to 37.5 percent shooting from the field and 28.2 percent from the arc. Grant Williams is leading the team with 19.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while Admiral Schofield is adding 18.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest.
Missouri on a hot streak as well
Missouri is on a 6-game winning streak right now following a 75-61 win over Morehead State on Dec. 29. The Tigers are set to open up SEC play and they are 5-0-1 against the spread during this win streak. Missouri is 9-3 on the season, 6-1 at home, 6-5-1 against the spread and 6-5 with the under.
The Tigers have been led by their defense this season, as they allow just 63.2 points per game. Offensively, Missouri is putting up 69.1 points per game and shooting just 43.8 percent from the field. Jordan Geist is leading Missouri with 13.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while Mark Smith is adding 12.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Tennessee
The Volunteers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games and 22-8-2 ATS in their last 32 games following a win of more than 20 points.
Missouri
Missouri is 5-0-1 against the spread in its last six home games and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 home games against a team with a road winning percentage over .600.
Prediction:
Going on the road is never easy and Missouri is a team that likes to rely on its defense to win so Tennessee is likely to have a little setback on offense. However, the Vols have far more offense to turn to than the Tigers. Tennessee should still be able to control tempo and set a scoring pace that Missouri won’t be able to catch up to. The Vols already scored 100 points on the road this season and I think they will be able to cover this spread tonight.
College Basketball Prediction: Tennessee -8
