Bulldogs improve to 12-1
Mississippi State rolled to a 103-81 home win over BYU on Dec. 29 to wrap up non-conference play with a 12-1 record. The Bulldogs led 48-38 at halftime and pulled away after the break. Mississippi State was paced by Aric Holman as he tallied 28 points on 11-of-18 shooting including 3-of-6 from 3-point range plus 3-of-3 at the free throw line. He also contributed eight rebounds and three assists. Quinndary Weatherspoon tallied 27 points to go with five boards and three dimes. Tyson Carter had 16 points, five rebounds and four steals off the bench. Nick Weatherspoon accounted for 11 points, two assists and two steals. Reggie Perry added 11 points and eight rebounds as a reserve. The Bulldogs shot 38-of-70 from the floor, 7-of-21 on 3-point tries and 20-of-22 at the free throw line.
Silva wins it for Gamecocks
Chris Silva hit a go-ahead dunk with 2.5 seconds left following a full-court pass to lift South Carolina to a 71-69 win at Florida in its SEC opener Saturday night. The Gamecocks outscored the Gators 39-33 in the second half to rally back. Hassani Gravett paced USC with 22 points off the bench on 7-of-11 shooting including 4-of-7 from 3-point range and 4-of-5 at the free throw line. Silva added 18 points plus five boards and three blocked shots. South Carolina shot 23-of-51 from the field, 7-of-18 from 3-point range and 18-of-25 from the charity stripe.
College Basketball Betting Trends
The under is 5-1 in the last six Bulldogs road games. The under is 6-2 in the last eight MSU games following an ATS win.
The over is 5-1 in the last six meetings in South Carolina. The over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall.
The Bulldogs have scored at least 98 points in two of their last three games, while last year's meeting at South Carolina ended in an 81-76 score. That would be plenty enough to hit the over. I don't want to fade the MSU offense right now and USC's offense should benefit from being at home. Go with the over tonight.
