Cornhuskers lose heartbreaker
Nebraska allowed the go-ahead layup with under four seconds remaining Wednesday night in a 74-72 defeat at Maryland. The Cornhuskers (11-3, 1-2 Big Ten) were outscored 39-33 in the second half of the loss. Nebraska shot 24-of-51 from the floor, 9-of-22 from 3-point range and 15-of-23 at the free throw line. James Palmer Jr. paced the Cornhuskers with 26 points on 7-of-19 shooting including 3-of-10 from 3-point range plus 9-of-13 at the free throw line. Glynn Watson Jr. registered 12 points, six boards and four dimes. Isaiah Roby added 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots.
Hawkeyes fall to 0-3 in Big Ten
Iowa had its five-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 11-3 overall plus 0-3 in Big Ten Conference play Thursday night with an 86-70 loss at Purdue. Tyler Cook led the Hawkeyes with 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting plus 6-of-7 at the free throw line. He also tallied six rebounds and two blocked shots. Isaiah Moss chipped in with 13 points and two assists. Ryan Kriener added 10 points, three boards and two assists off the bench. Iowa was outscored 52-35 in the first half of the defeat and shot 24-of-50 from the floor, 6-of 17 from 3-point range and 16-of-19 at the free throw line.

Prediction:
Nebraska might very well be the better team here, at least that's what the analytics show. But the Hawkeyes are at home and are in desperation mode as they look to avoid going 0-4 in the Big Ten Conference. A 1-3 start in conference play wouldn't be ideal for Nebraska, either, and it definitely has a shot to go into Carver-Hawkeye and steal a victory. But I think Iowa has the formula to put on an offensive clinic and get a much-needed win this evening..
