Creighton vs. St. John's Prediction
Will St. John's stay within seven points of Creighton tonight as a home underdog when the Big East foes clash at 8:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bluejays are 7-point road favorites versus the Red Storm while the over/under currently sits at 160 points. While the point spread hasn't moved, the total opened at 163.5 but has been bet down a full 3.5 points at most sports books.
Creighton suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, losing 80-70 to No. 1 Villanova on its home court. Marcus Foster leads the Bluejays in points per game at 19.0, while Justin Patton has a team-high 6.4 rebounds per game, 1.6 blocks per contest, and is shooting 74.3-percent from the field. Maurice Watson Jr. is averaging 8.9 assists per game.
St. John's has won three straight, including a 79-73 victory at DePaul on New Year's Day. Shamorie Ponds has been fantastic for the Red Storm, averaging 17.7 points per game, 3.4 assists and 2.0 steals, while Bashir Ahmed is averaging 5.7 boards and Tariq Owens is averaging 2.7 blocks per game.
OUR PREDICTION: The Red Storm is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games as an underdog, 6-2 against the number in their last eight games coming off a win, and are 6-1 at the betting window in their last seven home gmaes versus a team with a winning road record. Creighton is going to be focused coming off its first loss of the season but St. John's has more than enough talent to hang with the Bluejays on their home floor.
