BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) -Tasheed Carr and Pat Calathes each scored 18 points and St. Joseph?s defeated Fairfield 78-70 Friday night.
Fairfield had an early 18-8, hitting eight of their first 12 shots in the first 7 minutes, before St. Joe’s went on a a 34-10 run to end the half. The Hawks (5-4) took a 42-28 lead into the break, after holding Fairfield scoreless for over 3 1/2 minutes.
Fairfield battled back in the second half, cutting St. Joseph?s lead to 69-64 with 2:18 remaining, but a jumper by Carr and a 3-pointer by Rob Ferguson sealed the game for the Hawks.
Mike Evanovich scored 18 points to lead Fairfield (2-8) and Anthony Johnson chipped in 16.
It was the Hawks ninth consecutive win over Fairfield, which has lost 19 consecutive games against teams from Philadelphia.
