FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -Zarko Comagic had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Cameron Jones and Josh Lepley each added 11 as Northern Arizona easily defeated NAIA Northern New Mexico College, 80-39 Sunday night.
Northern Arizona used a 26-2 run in the middle of the second half to open the game up.
During that stretch, Comagic had eight of his game-high 15.
The Lumberjacks (3-5) forced 29 Northern New Mexico turnovers in the game and outscored the Eagles 40-5 in points off turnovers.
Defense played a big role in Northern Arizona’s rout as the Lumberjacks gave up the fewest amount of points in a game since the 1979-80 season when they held Weber St. to 28.
Charles Williams led Northern New Mexico with 10 points and eight assists.
Johannsen and Matt Johnson each had nine points for Northern Arizona. Josh Wilson led Northern Arizona with seven assists. The Lumberjacks had 24 assists on 31 made baskets and shot 60 percent in the second half.
