KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Tennessee sophomore Duke Crews is sidelined with an unspecified heart condition.
Crews will have more tests until doctors determine he’s healthy enough to practice and play, the team said Friday.
His condition was discovered during a round of echocardiogram tests for athletes to help rule out pre-existing heart or blood vessel problems. The forward, averaging 6.5 points and 4.6 rebounds, was hampered by an ankle injury earlier this season.
Crews was suspended by coach Bruce Pearl for a month in late September after a small amount of marijuana was found in the campus apartment he shares with other students.
As a freshman, Crews led the Volunteers in blocked shots (32) and field goal percentage (.518) for a team that went 24-11 and reached the regional semifinals of the NCAA tourney.
