WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) -Trae Goldston scored 20 points to lead Georgia Southern to a 68-46 victory over UNC-Wilmington in the Colonial Athletic Association conference opener for on Saturday night.
Goldston scored 14 in the first half to help the Panthers (3-5, 1-0) snap a three-game losing streak.
UNC-Wilmington (3-6, 0-1), which was averaging 82.5 points, has lost three consecutive games and six of the past seven.
Georgia State took control with a 20-5 run to close the first half. The Panthers put together a 19-5 second-half streak to push to lead to 64-40 on Bernard Rimmer’s dunk with 6:26 remaining in the game.
Trey Hampton scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds for the Panthers, who were 28 of 57 from the field (49.1 percent). Joe Dukes added 11 points for Georgia State.
Chad Tomko scored 12 points and Johnny Wolf added 10 points for the Seahawks.
