FT. MYERS, Fla. (AP) – Brett Comer scored 18 points and had 10 assists to lead Florida Gulf Coast to a 79-56 win over Ave Maria on Saturday night.
The Eagles (4-1) jumped out to an early lead and never relinquished it, shooting 54 percent from the field, with 12 of 25 from beyond the arc. It was Florida Gulf Coast’s fourth consecutive win.
Filip Cvjeticanin scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win, while Nate Hicks added 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week, Chase Fieler, and Dajuan Graf had 10 points apiece.
Ave Maria, an NAIA team, was led by Jelani Bonner, who scored 16 points and hauled in nine rebounds.
Florida Gulf Coast outrebounded the Gyrenes 42-30, and dominated with 36 points in the paint.
