ATLANTA (AP) -Trae Goldston scored 17 points to lead Georgia State to a 77-53 victory over Carver Bible College on Tuesday night.
Trey Hampton and James Fields scored 11 points each for the Panthers (1-1), who won despite going 2-for-18 from the 3-point line (11.1 percent).
The two 3-pointers continued Georgia State’s streak of making at least one 3-pointer to 420 games, dating to the 1994-95 season.
Hampton added nine rebounds and four blocks and Xavier Hansbro added nine rebounds as Georgia State outrebounded the Cougars 49-35.
The Panthers, who led by 14 at halftime, never trailed and their bench outscored Carver Bible’s bench 25-2.
Georgia State pushed the lead to 59-39 on Hampton’s two free throws with 7:48 left in the game.
Cory Evans scored 17 points, Nicholas Hood added 13 points and Joshua Caston had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Carver Bible (0-5).
