JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) -Zahir Carrington scored 21 points – one of four Lehigh players who finished in double figures – as the Engineers cruised to a 79-62 win over St. Peter’s on Saturday.
Marquis Hall added 20 points for Lehigh (1-0), while Phil Anderson had 12 points and Prentice Small finished with 11 points. Wesley Jenkins had a game-high 25 points for the Peacocks (0-1), while Ryan Bacon had 11 points.
St. Peter’s was in control early on, jumping out to a 18-11 lead, but Lehigh fought back and took the lead for good on Small’s layup with 7:52 left in the first half and led 39-31 at the break. They then opened the second half with a 17-11 run and held double-digit leads for most of the half.
Lehigh also won the battle of the boards, outrebounding the Peacocks 35-29.
