RADFORD, Va. (AP) -Kenny Thomas scored 20 points to lead Radford in a 74-55 victory against Brevard on Friday night.
Martell McDuffy scored 13 points and Joey Lynch-Flohr and Artsiom Parakhouski each added 11 for the Highlanders (1-0), who shot 58.6 percent from the floor in the first half. By the 17:25 mark in the second, Radford had pushed its lead to 34 points.
Jonathan Whitson led the Tornados (0-2) with 23 points, and scored 10 of his team’s 17 first-half points.
Thomas was 5-for-7 from behind the arc, knocking down three of those in the game’s first six minutes. Amir Johnson, who scored 10 points, led the Highlanders with six steals. McDuffy had four swipes of his own.
Radford won despite going 16 of 27 from the free-throw line and committing 17 turnovers.
