COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -The University of Colorado board of regents approved basketball coach Jeff Bzdelik’s five-year contract and his $270,000 buyout from the Air Force Academy on Thursday.
Bzdelik went 50-16 in two seasons with the Falcons before being lured away on April 4 to Boulder to replace Ricardo Patton.
Bzdelik’s annual compensation is around $750,000, more than twice what he was making at Air Force.
The regents, meeting in Colorado Springs, Colo., also approved moving expenses of up to $15,000 and eight season tickets to football and men’s and women’s home basketball games.
If Bzdelik leaves the school before 2009, he’d have to pay CU $750,000. After that, he’d have to pay $500,000 to break his contract.
