CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) – Illinois is adding two transfers to a basketball roster left thin by graduation.
Illinois State forward Jon Ekey and Seton Hall guard Aaron Crosby have agreed to join Illinois, according to a person familiar with the moves who spoke Wednesday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss them publicly.
Ekey will play immediately as a graduate-student transfer. Crosby will have to sit out a season.
The 6-7 Ekey was a 44.6 percent shooter and averaged 6.4 points and 4.2 rebounds a game this season. Crosby started 27 games at guard and averaged 12. 6 points. He was second on the team in assists with 92.
Illinois is losing seniors Brandon Paul, Tyler Griffey and D.J. Richardson.
