CINCINNATI (AP) -Xavier’s Derrick Brown has declared himself eligible for the NBA draft, while retaining the option of changing his mind and returning to school for his senior season.
The versatile forward said Thursday he won’t hire an agent, which allows him to withdraw from the draft by June 15 if it appears he’s not going to be a high pick. The draft is 10 days later.
Brown led Xavier in rebounding at 6.1 per game and was second in scoring at 13.7 points last season, when the Musketeers reached the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament.
If he returns, the Musketeers will have one of the deepest and most talented teams in school history but will be without coach Sean Miller, who left to take over at Arizona.
