Mary a 63-60 victory against fourth-seeded Old Dominion in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.
It was the second consecutive dramatic victory for the Tribe (16-15), which beat Georgia State in the first round on David Schneider’s 3-pointer with 1.5 seconds to go.
Mary will play top-seeded Virginia Commonwealth in Sunday’s semifinals.
The Monarchs finished a 17-15 after their second loss to the Tribe in three games.
Mary led 24-23 at halftime and for most of the second half, taking its biggest lead at 50-42 on a pair of free throws by Danny Sumner with 8:36 left.
Old Dominion rallied and took a 58-57 lead with 1:42 to play when Gerald Lee followed up his own miss and scored, but Schneider hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key before Brandon Johnson’s putback tied it at 60, setting up the dramatic closing seconds.
After Mann’s 3-pointerm Johnson missed with 3 seconds left and Mann got the rebound.
The Tribe was 14-for-19 from the field in the closing half. It got 16 points each from Sumner and Laimis Kasielius. Mann added 10 and Schneider had nine and seven assists.
Lee led the Monarchs with 20 points and Brian Henderson scored 15.
