CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) -Robert Bush scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds leading a balanced attack and Illinois-Chicago beat Northern Iowa on the road 70-58.
Bush, a guard, was one of four Flames in double figures. Guard Josh Mayo and reserves Robert Kreps and Jeremy Buttell each scored 13 points apiece. Buttell also snagged 9 rebounds falling just short of a double-double for Illinois-Chicago (15-13, 8-8).
The distributed scoring was enough to best Northern Iowa (15-13, 7-9), which was led by center Eric Coleman, who scored 26 points, leading both teams. Coleman also grabbed 11 rebounds, but only one other player – reserve Carlton Reed – was in double figures for the Panthers.
Reed added 13 off the bench for Northern Iowa, but the Flames held the Panthers to 37.7 percent shooting from the field. Meanwhile, Illinois-Chicago torched Northern Iowa, shooting 52.3 percent from the field and knocking down 8 of 16 three pointers.
