MIAMI (AP) -Chris Fuller scored a season-high 16 points and Alex Galindo added 13 points and eight rebounds to give Florida International a 66-60 win over Middle Tennessee on Saturday.
Desmond Yates scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Demetrius Green also contributed 12 points for Middle Tennessee (11-12, 8-5 SBC), who saw their four-game win streak snapped.
After leading by as many as 10 points, 58-48, with 3:51 to play, Middle Tennessee went on a 9-1 run to close to within 59-57 with 1:18 to play.
But Fuller gave the Golden Panthers some breathing room again when he hit a 3-pointer with 44 seconds left. The Blue Raiders’ Nigel Johnson drove the floor and went in for a lay-up, but Galindo swatted the ball away to preserve the lead.
FIU (7-16, 4-9 SBC), who came into the game averaging nearly 19 turnovers, had 13 turnovers and 14 assists.
