WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) -Chad Tomko scored 19 points and North Carolina-Wilmington snapped a five-game losing streak to Virginia Commonwealth with an 81-72 victory Wednesday night.
The Seahawks (6-18, 3-9) entered the game in 11th place in the Colonial Athletic Association, while the Rams (16-7, 9-3), who have lost two of their last three, ranked second.
UNC Wilmington, coming off a pair of close home losses to Hofstra and James Madison, never trailed.
The Seawkawks led 56-48 with 9 minutes left, then the Rams pulled within a point at 56-55 with 7:03 remaining. UNC-Wilmington used a 9-2 run, including five straight points by Jerel Stephenson, for a 65-57 margin.
The Rams routed the Seahawks 88-59 on Jan. 5.
Kevon Moore added 17 points for the Seahawks and Johnny Wolf scored 14.
Eric Maynor scored 21 points for VCU, but was 0-for-11 from 3-point range.
