LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -Seth Curry scored 17 points and Liberty withstood a late North Carolina-Asheville rally to win 78-66 on Saturday night.
The Flames (16-7, 7-4 Big South Conference) were up 59-44 with 9:31 left when the Bulldogs used a 17-4 run to pull within 63-61 with 3:50 remaining.
Liberty scored the next five points – all on free throws – and closed the game on a 15-5 run to win its second straight game and six of the last seven. The Flames also snapped a three-game losing streak to the Bulldogs.
UNC Asheville (9-13, 5-6) was led by Sean Smith, who shot 10-for-16 from the floor and had 11 points, including three 3-pointers, in the Bulldogs’ rally. He was 8-for-12 from long range.
Curry was 5 of 20 from the field and 1 of 9 from 3-point range, but made all six of his foul shots. Kyle Ohman added 16 points for Liberty and Anthony Smith had 15.
