NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) -Sophomore guard Wesley Jenkins scored a career-high 30 points, and St. Peter’s beat Iona 67-64 on Saturday.
Ryan Bacon added 14 points and fellow sophomore Nick Leon also had 14 for the Peacocks (6-15, 3-8 MAAC). St. Peter’s came into the game having lost four straight and eight of nine.
Devin Clark scored 18 points and didn’t miss a shot for Iona (10-12, 5-6) until the Peacocks’ Akeem Gooding blocked his shot at 3:31 of the second half. Clark ended up going 5-for-6 from the field and 8-for-8 from the foul line.
The Gaels led by as many as 10 just over seven minutes into the second half when Jenkins scored 14 consecutive points for the Peacocks. The Gaels had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer, but a 3-point shot by Scott Machado fell short.
