MORAGA, Calif. (AP) -Saint Mary’s guard Patty Mills will miss at least four weeks after breaking two bones in his right hand during the Gaels’ loss to Gonzaga on Thursday night.
Mills, the Australian sophomore who leads the Gaels with 18.7 points per game, was hurt just before halftime in No. 22 Saint Mary’s 69-62 loss at Gonzaga. He scored 18 points before getting hurt while attempting to break a fall.
Mills’ injury could be a tough setback for the Gaels (18-2, 5-1 West Coast), who are off to the best start in school history. Without his shooting and playmaking, Saint Mary’s went 10-of-30 shooting in the second half against the Zags.
Saint Mary’s plays at Portland on Saturday night.
