BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) -Divaldo Mbunga scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Montana State to a 69-65 win over Eastern Washington on Thursday night.
Erik Rush added 14 points, while Austin Brown finished with a career-high 11 points, all in the second half, for the Bobcats (10-9, 4-4 Big Sky).
The Eagles (9-12, 3-6) led by as many as 10 points in the second half, but the Bobcats rallied and took a 54-53 lead on a 3-pointer by Brown with 8:47 remaining.
Eastern Washington trailed 68-65 and had the ball with 8.3 seconds to go, but Milan Stanojevic missed the front end of a one-and-one free-throw situation after the Bobcats fouled intentionally to avoid a 3-point attempt. MSU’s Branden Johnson made a free throw with 2.4 seconds left to seal the win after Eagles coach Kirk Earlywine was called for a technical foul.
