NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP)Matt Kyle and Jordan Gibson each scored 14 points as Yale routed Division III Oberlin 92-41 on Saturday.
Five players reached double figures for Yale (6-8) in the Bulldogs final tuneup before the Ivy League season begins next week.
Yale made its first seven shots and raced out to a 16-6 lead and led 23-11 before Oberlin (3-10) closed the gap hitting four straight shots from three-point range. The Yeoman trailed 26-22 before Yale put the game away with a series of dunks. The Bulldogs finished the first half on an 18-2 run and led 44-24 at intermission.
Yale opened the second half by scoring the first 14 points to turn the contest into a blowout.
Oberlin (3-10) was led by Jordan Beard with 15 points. Beard broke a nine-minute stretch where the Yeoman were held without a field goal with the last of his trio of three-pointers.
Yale outrebounded Oberlin 45-17, despite playing without three starters, including leading scorers Eric Flato and Caleb Holmes, who were resting minor injuries.
