COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -Kansas State coach Frank Martin has apologized for popping senior Chris Merriewether on the upper body with the back of his hand during a game against Missouri.
Martin flipped his hand at Merriewether in the closing minutes of the No. 11 Wildcats’ 74-68 loss on Saturday while chastising the senior for a turnover. A few fans on Kansas State’s end of the floor noticed the contact and Martin took another swipe seconds later, this time missing Merriewether as he continued to scream.
Martin immediately apologized for hitting Merriewether at his postgame news conference, saying he had lost his composure and that his actions had no place in the game.
Merriewether called the swipe no big deal.
