ULM beat up by Memphis
UL Monroe is coming off a loss this past weekend at home to Memphis, 52-33, and now the Warhawks have a short week for a conference game. Monroe is just 2-3 on the year, 1-0 in the Sun Belt, 1-4 against the spread and 3-2 with the over.
The Warhawks have one of the worst defensive units in the league, as they are giving up 39 points and 506.8 yards per game this season. Offensively, ULM is putting up 31.6 points and 470 yards per contest. Caleb Evans has thrown for 1,172 yards and 10 touchdowns to lead the Warhawks while also rushing for 286 yards. Josh Johnson is the team’s leading rusher with 598 yards and four touchdowns while Josh Pederson has 23 catches for 283 yards and five scores.
Texas State on win streak
Texas State opened up conference play with an OT win over Georgia State on Sept. 21 and they followed that up with a 24-3 win over Nicholls State on Sept. 28. The Bobcats are 2-3 on the year, 1-0 in the Sun Belt, 1-3-1 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
The Bobcats don’t have much going for them on offense this year, averaging just 19.8 points and 323.2 yards per game. Defensively, Texas State is giving up 29.6 points and 410.6 yards per game. Gresch Jensen is leading Texas State with 1,121 passing yards and five touchdowns, but he also has six interceptions. Caleb Twyford is the leading rusher with 294 yards and a score while Hutch White is the leading receiver with 31 catches for 236 yards.
College Football Betting Trends
UL Monroe
The Warhawks have hit the under in four straight conference games and in nine of their last 12 road games.
Texas State
The Bobcats have hit the under in five of their last six home games and in eight of their last 11 overall.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in four of their last six meetings, including a 20-14 battle last year that was won by ULM. The total is set pretty high for two teams that aren’t terribly great on offense. The Warhawks can move the ball, but I think a short week is going to impact their execution. They are going on the road with just a few days to prepare against a conference foe that has a lot of tape on them. If Texas State is going to capitalize on that, it’s probably going to come defensively. The Bobcats just don’t have much of an offense to really scare anyone, even a bad defense like ULM. Texas State may see an uptick in scoring, but not enough for the over to hit.
College Football Week 7 Prediction: UL Monroe/Texas State Under 62.5
