GREENBURGH, N.Y. (AP) -The Knicks still won’t rule out Stephon Marbury for Wednesday night’s game against the New Jersey Nets, and now the status of Eddy Curry is in question after he sprained his ankle.
Curry sprained his left ankle while running during the morning shootaround. The Knicks probably won’t know if their starting center will be available until shortly before the game.
Marbury also wasn’t at shootaround, three days after his father died during the Knicks’ home loss to Phoenix. Coach Isiah Thomas said he wouldn’t know his starting point guard’s plans until later in the day.
If Marbury does choose to travel to New Jersey, Thomas would let him decide if he wanted to play.
“That would be his choice,” Thomas said. “If he felt that he was able to play emotionally, then we would let him play.”
Don Marbury’s funeral is Thursday morning in Brooklyn.
“Different people handle things differently, and dealing with death, it’s just a very emotional time,” Thomas said. “Everybody handles it a little differently, and you just have to give people enough time to go through their grieving process, however short or long that may be.”
