MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -Memphis Grizzlies forward Pau Gasol, the team’s leading rebounder and second-leading scorer, was inactive for Friday night’s game against the Los Angeles Clipper with a jammed right big toe.
The 7-footer from Spain banged feet with an unidentified teammate in Thursday’s practice, Grizzlies coach Marc Iavaroni said.
“We’re saying indefinitely because we don’t know,” Iavaroni said, when asked how long Gasol would be out.
A former All-Star, Gasol averages 17.3 points and 7.7 rebounds a game. The seven-year veteran has scored in double figures in 79 consecutive games, the third longest streak in the league behind Denver’s Carmelo Anthony (152 games) and Ray Allen of the Boston Celtics (118 games).
